Celebrate Earth Day with us at the ART ANNEX! Come experiment and explore the world of natural dyeing on paper with Lauren Pearlman Sugita. Discover the unique “kakishibu” dye; hand-carried by Lauren from Japan! “Kakishibu,” is a pigment dye made from fermented persimmons, known for its rich, earthy color and waterproofing properties. Lauren will demonstrate the process of hand-applying dye and show uses for other handmade dyes from avocado pits, beet juice and onion skins.
Dye, brushes and paper will be provided, but feel free to bring pieces of fabric, even paper or cloth grocery bags you would like to dye!
