Now that summer’s hazy heatwaves have passed, the colors of autumn tickle the eyes wide open

lanterns & chestnuts

and the smell of  freshly made rice crackers (“osembe”) cause nostrils to flare.

Time for art festivals, fall crops at  farmer’s markets.  It’s all so irresistible and is appreciated with enhanced clarity.  Green tea and anmitsu is good anytime of year, especially at my local tea house, Takeyama Tea House, but the other day I not only quenched my thirst for a good cup of macha, but I inhaled the details of the place I had been to many times before….
