However\, students will need to purchase in advance a list of supplies provided by the instructor\, like carving tools\, linoleum \, etc. \n6-student minimum\, so sign up with a friend or two! \n\nAmple parking and accessible ramp at front door! \n\nAbout the Instructor \nJules has been a printmaker for over 40 years. HeronPondStudio has been a working studio for over 30 years—currently as a studio in Fall River\, MA at the Narrows Center For The Arts. Jules has participated in many shows in RI\, the Boston area\, New Jersey\, Philly\, and Baltimore over the years. Jules’ work doesn’t just consist of one kind of image—the full body of work includes animals\, people\, places\, things\, and a lot of imagination! Jules has also taught classes and given printing demonstrations in her studio space\, kids summer camp programs\, and in churches and museums.

We will start with a sheet of hanji (handmade Korean paper) that is folded\, cut\, then manipulated and handspun into a one-ply thread. DESCRIPTION:This is a special opportunity to learn traditional Vietnamese papermaking techniques from a pro!\n\n \n\n\nFor centuries\, traditional Vietnamese papermaking communities across the country made handmade paper for spiritual and mundane use. In this workshop\, we will learn traditional Vietnamese papermaking techniques using the liềm seo (bamboo woven screen) and khung seo (two-part wooden frame) to make paper. We will work with paper mulberry and work in various sizes—9 x 12 in. and 12 x 18 in. \nInstruction will cover fiber preparation\, hand beating\, sheet formation\, pressing\, drying using traditional equipment\, and demos for manipulating the bark for textile design.
