From the "National Treasure" Collection
Itajime Kusakizome-shi is a sophisticated paper specially handmade by Mr. Haruhiko Tamura who, under Japanese law, has been designated a "Living National Treasure" for his production of this traditionally handmade art paper.
Using the purest kozo (mulberry) fibers, first, the white sheets of paper are formed following a 1500-year old tradition of Japanese hand-papermaking. After the sheets are dried, each sheet is dyed using a Japanese technique called "kyoketchi zome", where the paper is folded, in this case into a square, clamped between pieces of wood, and then the corners are dipped into organic vegetable dyes. The result is a square-patterned sheet of quiet, earth tones.

This paper is suitable for collage work, paper flowers and other handicrafts.

Package contains sixteen 6.5"x 9.5" sheets.
